Google Doodle celebrates Dorothy Hodgkin's birthday

doodle_hodgkindorothy_thumbToday's Google Doodle celebrates Dorothy Hodgkin's birthday by incorporating her molecular model of penicillin, which is on display in the Science Museum in London. Dorothy, who was born in Egypt in 1910 and served as IUCr President from 1972 to 1975, won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 50 years ago "for her determinations by X-ray techniques of the structures of important biochemical substances", which also included vitamin B12.
