All of the symmetry – P42cm: [(CH3)4N][Cu2(NCS)3]

What does it look like?

What is it?

Like Saturday's structure, today's is inspired by the space group list project. This is a compound composed of [Me4N][Cu2(NCS)3], which crystallised in spacegroup #101, P42cm. This is a material with a framework structure with pretty large channels. It forms transparent crystals!

Where did the structure come from?

This structure was discovered by Dilshad and Boller in 2005.

The 'Fascination with crystals and symmetry' MOOC will be running again from mid October – sign up here to take part! http://bit.ly/crystal_MOOC_2nd
